Dermatology

Skin problems can cause pain and discomfort, proper diagnosis and treatment is your best option.

Your pet’s skin can greatly determine how comfortable they feel, after all it is the largest organ. With all their fur it can be difficult to spot dermatological issues unless you are constantly checking. Skin issues can arise from allergies to foods or pollen, infected wounds, parasite infections and hormonal disorders. When your loyal companion exhibits signs of discomfort be sure to check their skin and give us a call at 780-481-5678.

What are signs of dermatological issues in pets?

The following are typical signs of skin problems in pets:

  1. Smelly fur
  2. Itching and scratching
  3. Thinning fur or dull coat
  4. Bald patches
  5. Itchy or dry skin
  6. Rashes and lumps

Is it safe to treat skin conditions at home?

It may seem like a quick and easy fix but treating dermatological issues at home might not be in the best interest of your pet. Getting veterinary attention should always be your first option especially because their symptoms might stem from a more serious issue. When you reach out to our team, we will perform bloodwork and if necessary other diagnostic testing to accurately diagnose the problem. From there we can prescribe the necessary treatment such as antibiotics, medicated shampoos, corticosteroids and antihistamines.
